AMELIA BURKE

Director & Teaching Artist

Amelia is a theatre director with a passion for creating and directing new Australian work. She is currently the Artistic Director of the Western Australian Youth Theatre Company (WAYTCo). Amelia loves fusing her love of performance with her passion for making work with young people. She has had the pleasure of working as a teaching artist and director across the country.

Amelia's new work highlights include directing David Finnigan's Scenes from the Climate Era (WAYTCo & Perth Festival), Grace Chow's The Comprehensive A to Z of Missing Persons Australia (WAYTCo) and Frieda Lee's darkly comedic play All His Beloved Children (KXT), the latter of which she was nominated for Best Direction (Independent Production) at the Sydney Theatre Awards (2023). 

Amelia holds a BPA in Performance Making from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) from WAAPA and an MFA in Directing from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA).
